AO1 - Plan the production process for a new media product

Brief
My group of me Shaunice and Sarah was set a task to create a commercial advert for a product which was designed and made by Steven Mcleans. This was the chest of draws and was designed for a hairdressers workplace to keep the magazine away/ The product of Steven Mclean was a very high end product and has a keen eye for style for this product. he had made sure he set to do all the detail which he had done and looks amazing. The department of technology had provided all the equipment and assistant required he needed to make this amazing product. Our task was to create an advert that will promote the advert and match the customers. This would be initally a minute long

Proposal

The idea for advert we had to do was to try and persuad the audience to buy the products, which the purpose was hairdressers. Thats why my group has decided to put the advert in the hairdressers eorkplace and see it in action as wewouldn't be able to have the location there, we tried to create the work place of one instead. So we planned to have this for the advert and had developed to make the advert successful in detail so that it can meet the clients needs as it would meets the best aspect of the product made by Steven Mclean. The advert would be aimed more at adults because its more for them buy the product; this would be filmed at the location of the technology departments. The purpose is for storage and will be fitting  in the environemtn styled for the environment ofthe heairdressers. The advert is onlyy a minute long which wont be long and will make sure that it lasts to the correct length. Its important to do the advert so that it can be promoted for Steven Mclean and be successful
Working Title

Our working title is G Drawer. The reason for this is because the product is shaped like a G.

Clients needs
Having   produced a designer cabinet for inspired by the architectural style and theme of frank lloyd wright, steve Mc Lean is clearly aiming his product at a specific kind of venue. He is looking for a location where I refined a aesthetic and the work level will be appreciated. therefore the advert we make must appeal to the sorts of business proprietors that serve such cliental. Steve needs the advert itself to be artistically produced and with an aesthetic style that complaints needs of the work being

Target Audience profile -
Age - 18 to 40
Gender - Both
Location - South London, Richmond, Wimbledon, Cheam, Epsom, Reigate Dorking
Education - GCSE,A level,
Social class - Higher class
occupation - high end jobs, doctor, accountant, lawyer.

The target audience shows that the product is for affluent people, the people who like the finer things in life.

Description

It's a white chest with a silver handles. its has two surface area to put things on. There is space above the draw for more items. it is a uniques shape, it consists of six parts. it is very modern for a particular chest. it reaches the needs of specific clients. its certainly pushes the boundaries for style of furniture and it is quite abstract to look at. We want the product to meet the clients needs of promoting the advert. Meeting the clients needs would be in the  hairdressers so we made sure that making the advert location would seem like in a hairdressers to show the hairdressers at its best. The products is very high standard and stylish and is for the location in Wimbledon, north London so the clients needs of the hairdresser must be high standard and in top condition. The demographic of the audience are in wealthy location such as Wimbledon and so the location has to be where the wealthy people and interested in stylish furniture. They would recognise a sense of quality and style that they are use to and comfortable in their own environment.

Roles assigned

The roles which I will be doing are:
Carry out recces and risk assessments to help them work safely in teams and independently.
Evaluate both product and process.. The justification of the ideas of me being in charge of these roles are because I am organised with the safety condition. I will always make sure if the location is safe and always think about if there are wires and cables on the floor I will always move them about. I will make sure that the location is safe for filming I will make sure I will do checks on the location to see if its safe to work in. I will make sure i will do these regularly for filming.

Shaunice role is Keeping up to date with the production diary. THe justification of this is that since she is organised and loved writing she makes sure that she keeps up to date with writing the production schedule, Plus show would it to the group for us to evaluate and use.

Sarah was in charge of editing and filming because she has a creative idea. THe justification of this is that she edits most of the advert and made sure that it was creative and meet the Clients needs. She also look the leader ship role so that was everyone was in charge of their role. She would always follow up the meetings and always check that we are up to standard.

To carry out recces and risk assessments and to help them work safely in teams and independently I will need to include things such as:

Carry out a recce for:
  • Filming/recording suitability
  • Fit for purpose
  • Permission/Specialist requirements

Risk Assessment
  • Should be carried out prior to any practical project
  • Covers all significant aspects of health and safety
  • Identifies potential hazards and know how to deal with them
Hazards which include:
  • Handling toxic materials
  • Lifting heavy objects
  • Using sharp/electrical equipment
  • Personal safety when interviewing
  • Wearing inappropriate clothing

Sarah and Shaunice have listed their role's on their individual blogs as I have made sure I put my designated roles to make sure what I will be incharge of and make it simpler for my self. We decided to put different roles to match our as I was more of the person who was moreing about safety of equioment and location, I made sure I was in charge of the risk assesment and recce because I thought it would meet my skill. However Sarah is more good at organisation role and has good creativie she was in charge of the filming production and taking leadership role because she was very much good at her role. Shaunice was good at keeping track at what were doing and keeping up to date schedule  It was only fair to be in charge  of that role for her.
Having studying business, my team member Shaunice has bought the team of making sure that the dealing are always met since in business we had to make sure that the deadline is met in business. In business we construct a lot of daily reports. So from this she had good writing structure skills. This is one of the reasons why we fought she would be a good role in being in leadership of keep an up to date diary.
Sarah my team member  had been bringing the create ideas of the advert. Since she had been studying Art A level, she bought the creative idea of what to do in the advert. Also she had a good eye for style so we decided to put her in leadership of the editing as well as the content of the advert.

Estimated time

To evaluate the final products I will need to look at it in terms of:
  • Comparison with a professional product
  • Original proposal/satisfying clients' needs
  • Originality
  • Use of appropriate techniques
  • Legal and ethical requirements
  • Quality of material
  • Missing items

Location

Equipment

The equipment which we will need to film are:
  • Mini HD Camera Legeria 13th March all day
  • The Mac (IMovie for edditing) - 14th March 3 hours
  • Tripod - 13th March All day
  • The product (chest of drawers) 13th March all day
  • Cables for camera charger 13th march Afternoon
  • Cables to connect the wire to the computer from the camera 14th March 20minutes
For a professional Advertising company they will have the equipment that would be needed. However our school might not have the required material so my group and I have to use our own initiative such: lighting we would natural light, for sound recording equipment we could use either a voice over on the camera or the microphone on the MAC's. We would not need any batteries, if we did then they school might provide or we might have to buy them ourselves.
Materials

We do not need to order anything else as all we need is provided by The Beacon School such as the camera's, tripod, editing equipment such as the MAC's, computers. If we do need any material we just go to the technology. They are  all provided by the school which is helpful for us since we don't have to order any material that isn't needed. Also we don't need to build a set for filming we are just using location for filming. For professional adverts company they would have the resources to build as we do not have one. Although we would needs to consider ordering CD's and DVD's for the clients so that \i can be able to destrabute the advert to them. The pricing for CD's and DVD's would be Tesco DVD-R spindle - pack of 50 for the pricing of £11.50 and the pricing for CD's Tesco CD-RW - pack of 10 costs £3.75

Contingency Plans

this is made by Ruhee Ali
A contingency plan is another word for a back up plan for filming. For example the Location for filming we are filming for is the technology room which we have done a risk assessment for. But if the technology room is unavailable me and my group have decided to film in the Atrium room which we have also done a risk assessment form for a back up plan.
