Evaluation
Me Sarah and Shaunice are in a group and were asked to create a TV advertisement of a product of our choice. The Choice was between a table and a seat.
For our advert we were planning on making an advert which was fitting the clients needs, The clients needs of the product is in a high stander system. So we need to make sure the the advert is at the top of the range and was in the high standard. The advert has a lots of close up shots of the product to show exposure of the product. I made sure that I met clients needs such as giving as much exposure of the product as possible. So I made sure that there was lots of close up of the product with a panning shot to show the whole product. However there were some cliental needs that could be improved such as hand held movement.

What went well in our group was that we all deligated each member in our group to be leader of one activity. This was very successful as well as there skills matched the leadership role. So I think this was very successful. The advert was not initially as successful as we found it originally was, however I would say that we worked well in the group as we have known each other
We had good organisational and communitcation skills by we planned all aspects of our video well since each of us was in charge of different role and we made sure that areas of the filming covered. For example I was in charge of the risk assessment and the recce; so i made sure that all the documents was done for this before since this would be extremely important especially for the location. We made sure that no one was left out and some was in charge of something. One of the good qualities in our group is that we all worked well together since we had good communication. For example the ideas for our advert wasn't just one person talking and someone just writing the idea. Evereyone had took input into the ideas and devloped it. We also deligated people to different role and we were incharge of these roles. We worked indepandantly since we had our own roles and made sure that we doing these tasks. For example I made sure that the recce's was done and shaunice made sure that the production was done and Sarah made sure where we going to film and foundthe location.
In time managment We managed our time well by keeping daily records of our pre-production, production and post production. It also helped that our team members and myself was always punctual and always on time on lessons and rarely miss the lessons. We tried to follow our timeline to make sure that our tasks was all in set. Although we structured our time well we could of improved managed a back up plan for our time management so that when something goes wrong we could of had an extra back up. We had to be in time management with the meeting follow up. So we had to make sure that if we had any follow up in the meeting. For example we made sure that we had an follow up with the script's and storyboards. Also there was time management for the actual idea's since it takes time to make the ideas for the advert. We needed to have time for practising the equipment of the cannon HD Legeria so when we had the actual filming process we would be prepared in how to use the equipment.
We were successful in meeting deadline but we could of been more organised by meeting deadline more earlier. So that we could of got more feedback back more quickly and improve them. This could of resulted us in achieving a high grade for this unit. The problems that prevented this was that we could not get all the MACS as there were a lot of students last year and not all of us got the MACS quickly than some of us in the group. We could of met the deadlines more effectively by booking extra time on the MACS so that we have had plenty of time for improvement. for meeting deadline we had to make sure that we handed in certain assessment objectives at certain times. For example we had to be completed AO1 at a certain time so that we can start in filling for AO2.
We had the ability to work in a team and independenty by lWe had worked well within our group as we were comfortable with each other since we all know each other very well. We also know each others weakness and strength so that we would known who was stronger on which tasks were set. Such as we knew Shaunice had good writing skills so we made her in charge of the production diary. Sarah had creative art skills so that we made her in charge of making the story boards and idea for filming. I was in charge of risk assessment and recce. Even though we were in charge of different task we still had to make sure that we did all the other areas of production and we all had to show the skill. We didn't record how each part of the task being created by different individual how I wanted it as such. I could of improved this taking photo's of what individual had done and write about there performance as a portfolio of some kind. we could of overcome this by by recording who done what and try to take photo of who had done what and take it into evidence it.
At first trying the MACs to edit was very difficult since we didn't we know what we had to do and have never tried what we had to do. Sarah was the main person to edit the video since she had a a lot of free time to edit the advert then me and shaunice did. However we made sure that we all had editted some scene of the adverts .We found it difficult at first but now we have a extreme knowledge of editing and have learnt how to improve our editing skills. I also have found it difficult but now with a lot of practice I have found my editing skills improved.
I have learnt a lot of use of apropriate techniques such as editing and how to work a camcorder with the tripod. It may seem like a basic skill but I had struggle to work a camcorder with the tripod. I think now I have a clear understanding of how to use a camcorder with a tripod. Before starting a media I didnt have understanding with media technology, I was a true begginer However I making the advert I have learn how to make to use a tripod. So whenever I need to go and do some filming I wouldn't need any assistant since I have a clear understand with how to use it and can see the problem when it wasn't properly. For example if the tripod doesn't work properly I would check each angle to see what would be the problem with the tripod. Also I have a clear understanding on how to use the MAC because of the editing we had to do on IMovie. Even though it was an easy tool I still had struggle at first but then I had a bit of assistant and now i have a clear understand. For example I know how to add voice over in IMovie and I know how to cut scene and how to stretch them out.
comparison with a professional product by I have had compared our advert to a proffesional advert of Oaks advert. This advert is very is high standerd. The similarities the professional advert and the advert that I had was that we had included panning shots as well close up shots. However you can see the difference in the advert by there advert looks professional by their high technology and had experts in making the advert meeting a clients needs. I think we have learnt from the advert is the lighting since it shows the furniture at its best. I think if we have redid the advert we would have done the advert in a bright lighting.
quality of materia was that the original clients needs of the proposal was to make an advert for a chest of draws and made sure we meet the clients needs of making the advert. Having a clear media knowledge now, I think our advert was successful making at it at that time. But if we had the chance to redo the advert now it would be alot more better having learn the media knowledge now. Before me and my group was just begginers and didn;t have much media knowledge but now we would know on how to make a successful and how to use the editing kit. For example for sound we would have added soun d affect to draw attention to the client. we want the audience to be amazement of the product so thsi would create emotion. We would have done the location of filming in the atrium for the lighting and colour since it is the brightest room. We would have add cutting shots and cutting tool.
Our advert was very original since we didn't use anyone's idea, we thought of the idea ourselves and made imput on how to improve the advert. Also evereyone has different idea about making a successful so we couldn't have tooken any else's idea. We asked people what was their idea so that we didn't take their idea and we had our own idea of advert. Our advert was original because we had thought of the idea of ourselves without any assistant. The originality of the advert was very successful since we made sure that it was our own idea for the advert.
legal and ethical requirements by While planning our advert we had to consider the legal and ethical because we dont our advert consider any offensive material or being offensive to anyone. We made sure that our advert didn't have any offensive quality. We had to make sure that we had no copyright material. We made sure our advert had no offensive scene and that it was appropriate for the clients needs. we had to make sure that we didn't have any copyright material so all our music was either by free sound or garageband. Therefore our advert does not contain any copyright issue. with Advertising authority such as ASA, they deal with complaints of the advert. Also they deal with if there is any complaints with the advert as the logistic such as have any text they that adverts can't have. I have to make sure of these legal and ethical issues before making the advert. Also the picture below are text I would;t say in a advert. There are more words we can't put in the adverts but these are just a few. However my advert don't include any of these words but its still good to do your research on these before making an advert.
The quality of the material of the camcorder was very high because we the media department had bought loads of Cannon HD Legeria Camcorder alongside with 10 MAC's. These were all new equipment and was in top condition. However there was a lot of groups making an advert so everyone having the equipment at the same meant that not everyone had time with the equipment so we had a booking sheet to make sure that each group had time with all equipment and had time making the equipment. Otherwise not everyone had times with the equipment.
If we didn't book the equipment than we would not have the right equipment for filming. For example if we didn't book to use the tripod than our advert would consist of wobbly shot. The shot helps the stability of filming and reduces the risk of having a wobbly shots. Thats why it is important to book all the equipment required for filming the advert. Otherwise the filming would be unsuccessful and would not meet the clients requirements
Missing items we had in our production of the commercial would be the clapper boards because it would helped us as the group the show and mark certain scene's while filming and takes recorded during a production. Having a clapperboard will help with the timing and organisation for the advert as when can use at certain time. The missing item of the clapper boards shows that we would have have the music and the certain at the same time. So having a clapper board would be helpful in the group. However we did not have this item and we had to make without the missing item.
