Evaluation

Evaluation

Me Sarah and Shaunice are in a group and were asked to create a TV advertisement of a product of our choice. The Choice was btween a table and a seat.
What went well in our group was that we all deligated each member in our group to be leader of one activity. This was very successful as well as there skills matched the leadership role. So I think this was very successful.

We planned all aspects of our video well since each of us was in charge of different role and we made sure that areas of the filming covered. For example I was in charge of the risk assessment and the recce; so i made sure that all the documents was done for this before since this would be extremely important especially  for the location. We made sure that no one was left out and some was in charge of something.

We managed our time well by keeping daily records of our pre-production, production and post production. It also helped that our team members and myself was always punctual and always on time on lessons and rarely miss the lessons. We tried to follow our timeline to make sure that our tasks was all in set. Although we structured our time well we could of improved managed a back up plan for our time management so that when something goes wrong we could of had an extra bak up.

We were successful in meeting deadline but we could of been more organised by meeting deadline more earlier. So that we could of got more feedback back more quickly and improve them. This could of resulted us in achieving a high grade for this unit. The problems that prevented this was that we could not get all the MACS as there were a lot of students last year and not all of us got the MACS quickly than some of us in the group. We could of met the deadlines more effectively by booking extra time on the MACS so that we have had plenty of time for improvement.

We worked well within our group as we were comfortable with each other since we all know each other very well. We also know each others weakness and strength so that we would known who was stronger on which tasks were set. Such as we knew Shaunice had good writing skills so we made her in charge of the production diary. Sarah had creative art skills so that we made her in charge of making the story boards and idea for filming. I was in charge of risk assessment and recce. Even though we were in charge of different task we still had to make sure that we did all the other areas of production and we all had to show the skill. We didn't record how each part of the task being created by different individual how I wanted it as such. I could of improved this taking photo's of what individual had done and write about there performance as a portfolio of some kind. we could of overcome this by by recording who done what and try to take photo of who had done what and take it  into evidence it.

At first trying the MACs to edit was very difficult since we didn't we know what we had to do and have never tried what we had to do. Sarah was the main person to edit the video since she had a a lot of free time to edit the advert then me and shaunice did. Sarah found it difficult at first but now she has a extreme knowledge of editing and have learnt how to improve her editing skills. I also have found it difficult but now with a lot of practice I have found my editing skills improved.

I have learnt a lot of skills such as editing and how to work a camcorder with the tripod. It may seem like a basic skill but I had struggle to work a camcorder with the tripod. I think now I have a clear understanding of how to use a camcorder with a tripod.

Contingency plans

this is made by Ruhee Ali
A contingency plan is another word for a back up plan for filming. For example the Location for filming we have used for is the tech room which we have done a risk assessment for. But if the tech room is unavailable me and my group have decided to film in the Atrium room which we have also done a risk assessment form for a back up plan.

Doing a contuigency plan is very important for the planning for our Tv Avert so if there is any problems in filming in the Tech room we will always have a back up plan just in case the room was ocupied. It is really for all for peope who makes a TV advert have a contuigency plan so they can have a back up plan with not enough plugs or if the right equipment dont fit in the ideal room.

Working title

Our working title is G Drawer. The reason for this is because the product is shaped like a G.

Product description

Chest of draw:

Description:
It's a white chest with a silver handles. its has two surface area to put things on. There is space above the draw for more items. it is a uniques shape, it consists of six parts. it is very modern for a particular chest. it reaches the needs of specific clients. its certainly pushes the boundaries for style of furniture and it is quite abstract to look at.

Interview with our client

Here is a written interview with Steve McLean as he did not want any more interviews from people within our class. So I got our information from Matt Hillarby's video interview with him. here is what we found out:

Who was it inspired by?
Frank Lloyd Wright - Architect and it is also influenced by the still art movement to get the proportions right.

What is the concept?
Putting many boxes together to make it appear as if they are floating.

What was it designed for?
It was designed to be a magazine drawer as it has different departments to fit this. Such as A5 magazines and A4. There is also a drawer for newspapers.

Who is its target audience?
A hairdressers to overcome the problem of magazines all being jumbled together.

What is it called and why?
It is called cloud 90 because of the concept idea of them appearing as if they float like clouds, also the white for the colour. The 90 comes form the 90 degree angle the shelves are at.

This makes the product very useful and keen new product for salons everywhere. As it is modern and chic to current economic demand. It is unique and has a specific purpose therefore that could even cause a road block or may make them very popular, if it were to be mass produced.

Here is Steve's product:
this was written up by Sarah Parker but is part of our project.

Brief:

In my group, me (Ruhee Ali), Sarah Parker and Shaunice Mohammed are going to produce a video commercial  for an original designed product, as done by Steven McLean. It is a chest of draws that is very smooth, sleek and modern. The designer is a very good at what he does and has clear experience under his belt to be trusted to have designed this product. He studies A-level product design and thoroughly enjoys the subject, the chest of draws is in perfect working order and is made to fit the current climates needs. The Beacon allows him to do that by having highly skilled and qualified teacher's. The tech department has helped many young designers with dreams and ambitions as they have all the equipment needed to produce fantastic designs. In our commercial we will advertise the product to a high extent with visual graphics and effects, that will make the draws seem appealing to most. It will probably be 30 secs to a minute long.
